So, I've been thinking about my overall health (including physical, psychological, and spiritual) lately and it's been really interesting because I am use to being so healthy all around, but lately I've been neglecting it.
On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most optimal):
-My physical health is in the range of 4-5. I say this because I use to be a runner and very athletic all around. But lately within the past two years (ever since I got pregnant with my first child) I've been abstinent from exercise. I know how it feels to be at my prime and I know my best physical fitness and right now, I feel like I'm at that range where I know I need to be physically active but I just find excuses not to. On my best days I go for walks and I do weight lifting but I don't run like I use to. But the good thing that I find right now with my physical health is that my nutrition is still the same, I don't eat too much. I actually eat less and I'm more on quality than quantity.
A goal I would like to set for this area is to do more than even I expect out of me. To get myself into moving around more and doing what I use to love. I love the passion I once had for it and I want that back. I can find more time to go for a run even if its just a few minutes a day. I can get my child involved for his sake.
- My psychological well-being would be an 8. I find myself enjoying my days for myself and my family. I find myself being strong for everyone. I enjoy my days and what I do. At times, I find myself in a slump but I quickly regain my self control over my actions and thoughts and maintain my true self. I'm not saying I'm always positive though. I tend to lack in the knowledge of asking for help when I need it and I am stubborn. At those times, I understand the pain and the guilt I feel for allowing myself to feel that way. That's why I don't give myself the full 10.
A goal I have for this area of wellness is to do more to relax myself and regain my thoughts on life. I can maybe do more brain exercises and learn more about how to strengthen my psychological well-being.
-My spiritual health and wellness is about a an 8 as well. I am a person who is spiritual, but not all around spiritual. I allow myself to regain my religious means when I need it the most, but I don't do that everyday, every hour, or even every minute. I do it because I have the aching and longing to do it and live it in the moments when I feel the need to. I am Native American, I have a traditional understanding of my culture. I believe in my traditions but I also am aware of others that I was taught such as Christianity and Catholicism. I believe in them as well, but I integrate them all into what I am.
A goal I have for building my spirituality is to learn more on how to become more of what I believe and to teach that to my kids and family. I could pray more and pay attention to my spiritual side. I can read and learn more about how to build my spirituality.
The Crime of the Century Exercise:
This exercise really got me into thinking I could be in some kind of fairytale. I felt relaxed thinking about all the different colors and listening to the narrator talk about breathing and the meanings of the colors and areas of the body. It got me into a state of relaxation that brought my soul and heart to life. In some way I felt like I was my own diamond or a crystal. It wasn't really the best relaxation exercise I've tried, but it was entertaining to know about the colors of the rainbow and getting myself to believe in myself.
